Raiding Arizona

George Strait once claimed he owned ocean-front property in Arizona…naturally it was for sale. Following George’s lead, did the Philadelphia Eagles manage to actually find a buyer for similar property in the guise of Kevin Kolb? It appears so, to the tune of a second-round draft pick and Pro Bowl cornerback Dominque Rodgers-Cromarti from the Arizona Cardinals. I’m not saying Kolb is, or will be, a fraud. But a team located in a state famous for dubious assets should have examined the inexperienced backup with a greater level of suspicion. Sprinting away from my antiquated country music reference, hit the jump to discover how Kolb compares to a former Tennessee Titans backup - who still happens to be a backup - and decide how suspicious you are of the Cardinals new quarterback.

Simulating The Season

This is only a simulation. Just for kicks. In fact, this simulation was executed only one time. For any meaningful result (if any result of this nonsense could be meaningful) it should be repeated several hundred or thousands of times. But seeing how this is a XBOX 360 game and the subject matter is college football and not the national debt ceiling, I assumed a singular season, complete with notable stats mind you, would be sufficient. Big Orange fans will be relieved that this is only a simulation after getting a glimpse of the predicted results. Hit the jump and check out what NCAA Football 12 thinks of the Vols in 2011.

New Song and Tour Dates From The Avett Brothers

Debuting on CMT’s Crossroads (Unplugged), “The Once and Future Carpenter” is the newest song from The Avett Brothers…and it is amazing. In addition to the new song, The Avett Brothers also announced new fall tour dates. The dates include two performances in Tennessee, a free show in Starkville, MS on the campus of Mississippi State, and several others. If you’re a fan, make it a priority to see them in concert. Their energy is unmatched and, speaking from experience, it will become an instant favorite. Ticket sales begin this week for many of the new tour dates so don’t delay! In the meantime enjoy the Crossroads performance of “The Once and Future Carpenter.”

Wish Upon a Five Star…(Recruit That Is)

What does it mean to sign four- and five-star recruits? Does it guarantee success? Bowl victories? Should Tennessee fans be concerned over the three-star laden class of 2012? Should I stop asking questions? Yes…to the last one at least. For the previous four, I don’t know. Hoping to find out, I did some brief research using Rivals.com’s recruiting class rankings from 2002 to 2011. Hit the jump to check out my results.
